Message from the Founder

Portgate was founded to make your journey to Dubai simpler.

When I relocated to Dubai in 2022, I kept wishing I could have found this information in my own language. Visa procedures, housing, banking — each one may seem small, but in an unfamiliar environment, they become significant hurdles.

That's why we built a team that lives on the ground — to support those taking on new challenges with real information and a trusted network. That's the spirit that drives this company.

Akito Yamada

Born in New Zealand. After graduating from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in 2016, joined CAM Inc., a CyberAgent Group company. After web direction experience, co-founded the nonprofit organization nukumo in 2018. Launched socially impactful restaurants utilizing food loss and free sharing apps, featured in numerous media outlets. Left the organization in 2021 and relocated to Dubai in February 2022. Enjoys watching YouTube in his free time.

Shouhei Inoue

From Kumamoto Prefecture. Portgate CFO and BRIDGES & ALLIES Senior Client Manager. Graduated from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in 2015, then joined SMBC Nikko Securities. Served as a wealth management advisor for high-net-worth individuals and mid-sized companies. Later transferred to the IPO department, handling valuations and equity stories for multiple IPO projects. Left the company in June 2022 and relocated to Dubai. Enjoys sauna and Impressionist art.

COO

Hana Jeavons

Japanese-English bilingual from London. After graduating from Seinan Gakuin High School and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), served as a dispatched officer at the Japanese Embassy in Croatia from 2017, handling secretarial duties and VIP events for two years. From 2019 to September 2024, worked as a producer at NTV London Bureau, covering breaking news stories across the UK and internationally. Relocated to Dubai in November 2024. Enjoys movies and food tours.

Naoki Fukui

From Osaka. CEO of Mikle Inc. Joined NTT in 1996, later sold his startup to Rakuten. Became CEO of NeoWiz Japan (a Korean public company) in 2003. Founded Mikle Inc. in 2005 and its U.S. subsidiary Mikle, Inc. in 2008. Operates multiple services including 'feedwind,' a paid web service used in 76 countries. Relocated to Dubai with his family of four in 2023.
